New IMMEDIATE video explains factors affecting our gut health

In a world full of health trends, it may be difficult to understand what contributes to our well-being. The EU-funded IMMEDIATE research project, is on a mission to unravel health-to-disease transition.

The project aims to improve our understanding of the factors that influence our health, particularly the often-overlooked gut health. IMMEDIATE explores the impact of the gut microbiome on our overall health. Contrary to popular belief, it's not just about what we eat. Rather, it's a complex interplay of various environmental factors, from diet to stress levels, that influence our health.

"At IMMEDIATE, we're delving deeper into the realm of the gut microbiome and individual well-being," explains project coordinator Prof Dr Med. Friedemann Paul from Charité. "Our aim is not only to unravel the mysteries of the gut microbiome, but also to translate these findings into actionable insights for people who want to have more control of their health."

The IMMEDIATE approach involves analysing omics data from 12,500 participants using machine learning and artificial intelligence. Moreover, IMMEDIATE is conducting a trial, evaluating the effects of the beneficial bacteria Akkermansia muciniphila on the stress levels of 200 healthcare professionals.

The end result is a mobile app that provides personalised lifestyle recommendations tailored to each user's individual health profile. By empowering individuals with actionable insights, IMMEDIATE aims to promote a proactive approach to health management.

The video is now available on the IMMEDIATE project website and YouTube channel. For the latest updates on the project's work, follow IMMEDIATE on LinkedIn and X.
