Breaking Barriers: The Women behind IMMEDIATE

The path to a career in science is not always easy, especially for women. Despite progress, gender gaps in STEM remain, making it essential to celebrate and support the women who are pushing boundaries and leading the way.

At IMMEDIATE, we are proud to have a diverse team of brilliant women contributing to innovative research in gut health and chronic inflammation. Today, on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we highlight some of them.

“I have always been drawn to riddles and puzzles – curiosity has defined me since childhood. Even today, I love solving puzzles, tackling riddles, and playing logic games. Instead of traditional artwork, the walls of our home proudly display puzzles my family and I have completed over the years, a passion I am delighted to have passed on to my children. This love for problem-solving aligns with my drive to excel. Whether in sports, academics, or any endeavor, I strive to give my absolute best. Science, to me, is the ultimate puzzle – analyzing complex facts to uncover meaningful insights. Discovering the field of genomic technologies, especially the concept and precision of single-cell genomics, was a truly mind-blowing experience for me. It revealed a powerful tool for unraveling how our bodies work and inspired me to further develop these technologies. One highlight of this journey was discovering unique immune cells in Alzheimer’s disease – a breakthrough made possible by the immense resolution of single cell genomics. Understanding the vast potential of these technologies has driven me to dedicate my scientific career for advancing cutting-edge genomic research. This field’s constant evolution, with its endless opportunities for discovery, keeps me motivated. Staying at the forefront of cutting-edge genomic research is fun, challenging, exhilarating, and deeply fulfilling, especially knowing these advancements can profoundly make an impact.” Says Dr Hadas Keren-Shaul in her full statement.
