Celebrating the World Microbiome Day 2025
This year’s World Microbiome Day theme is “Microbiome 101: What You Need to Know”, and it is all about making science easy to understand and empowering everyone to take small steps toward better health.
The microbiome refers to the trillions of microorganisms, mostly bacteria, that live inside and on our bodies, especially in the gut. Far from being harmful, most of these microbes are essential for our health. They help us digest food and absorb nutrients, produce vitamins and beneficial compounds, train our immune system to respond properly, protect against harmful bacteria and even influence our mood and brain function.
At IMMEDIATE we are trying to understand how our gut microbiome interacts with our diet, immune system, and metabolism to influence long-term health.
By studying the diet–microbiome–metabolite–immune axis, IMMEDIATE researchers aim to identify early signs of risk and resilience before diseases like obesity, diabetes, and autoimmune conditions fully develop. Our goal is to give people the tools to take charge of their health, long before disease strikes.
